You seem to have a very inquisitive mind there. I urge you to take a course or two. I think that you will really benefit from it.

While the World of Harry Potter is better than fantastic, I am sorry to say that it is purely fiction.

But on saying that and your curiosity about spell work. Yes spells do work, although the workings of magick are only used as a last resort.

I urge you to take a course, you will learn so much and I know you will really do well.
