Ice candles are made with wax, color, scent, wick, as with all candles, the only difference is the ice. Get a milk carton, cut off the top, set up you wick according to size of carton, pour in some ice, then the wax that is melted, etc..., let it cool and harden, peel away the carton, let it dry for a couple of days, then use as normal. pint size carton candles usually last 2-4 hours, and so on up the scale. I made them in grammar school.

Tell her that we believe that this energy is also in the gods and that they have given it to the world. Tell them that our minds can help us USE that energy to achieve goals, magic. Reminder her that the energy doesn't go away when it is used, it is recycled.

Also, make sure to try to help her understand our ethics, like the wiccan rede and the law of three. Simplify them as much as possible with real world examples (like if you cheat on your test, inevitably you will get your consequences... either you will get caught, or later you could be cheated off of yourself or whatnot) I think a clearer version of the rede is "You can only do things that harm no one, however you like, but those things that may cause harm must be done carefully so that you cause the least amount of harm possible". I personally define harm as whatever goes against the natural order of things.

Anyways, feel free to use any of my blogs.. Get her experiencing nature and studying mythology and "feeling out" what her path may be. She can certainly practice simple magic and meditation with your moral guidance, children do magic subconsciously anyways, the least we can do is help them to harness it for good, positive reasons. Let her join you in ritual, so long as everything is "PG-rated" of course. A fun way to teach a life skill and pagan ideas is through kitchen witchery, explaining to her how herbs and foods can add their energies to a dish.

I was 11 when I started wicca (on my own by the way) so I am sure your daughter is ready to start the very beginnings of practice. The main idea is that you are her guide, leading her down the path to spiritual happiness, and I think it is better that you are her teacher, than forcing her to enter this journey unguided!

What can she do and not do? hmm...

First off, kids can be much more involved than many wiccans dare to think. They are thinking, feeling, aware, and intuitive beings that are perfectly suited to spiritual and emotional development.

The issue that kids usually have is in comprehension. They interact with the world in a very concrete manner. They can believe in ethereal things, spirits etc... but in their minds, something either IS (in full physicality) or it IS NOT. Abstract concepts like the idea that the gods are emanations of a single, ethereal, invisible "force" are really difficult for them to reconcile with reason.

Kids NEED a solid world, so the trick is to introduce them to magic and theology in a way that is tangible and touchable and real. Also it is important not to go deep into the ideas that suppose we "imagine" our universe... children need to be grounded and supported by real life. Their brains cannot think existentially in a productive, useful manner, until they go through the chemical changes of adolescence. In short, if they loose their grounding, the will become rife with uncertainty.

So, use your world, the physical. Start with showing them the elements and how they are encompassed all around our world. Fire in nature is our bright, warm sun. Air is the wind, they can feel, breath, and experience, Earth is literally the soil beneath us, built from minerals. Water is ... water, which cleanses and carves our world. Explain to her that these elements act as both "qualities" and physical things that we work with. If you can, find a copy of the Scientific Periodic Table and Explain to her how science calls these elements "Gas, Liquid, Solid, and plasma (i think)" and how each is very similar to our concept of the elements.

Next start with basic basic animism. We believe that everything has energy. You can show how atoms have these particals in motion, energy, and how they ..
