Daily Reading for Saturday, 31 December, Year 11 Aq.

Saturday December 31

Today’s reading is:

Seven of Rods
Star*
Two of Coins

Our first card today is the Seven of Rods, whose meaning is victory after hard work –though effort is required the things we desire can be brought to pass. With it is the Star, a Major Arcanum representing the hope for things to turn out as we would like them too. And finally we have the Two of Coins suggesting that we will find ourselves very busy today with many projects and irons in the fire. These three cards continue yesterday’s emphasis on success but add that we will be working hard for it – but that the things we desire will definitely be within reach today.

A good stone for today might be garnet, a stone of personal power and protection, which also promotes determination and focus on ones goals.

Today is secular New Year’s Eve. This is a time to focus on hopes for the New Year and make wishes and resolutions for the New Year. Many people will stay up to welcome the New Year at midnight, traditionally a time for wishes, toasts, and noisemaking –the later to chase away any negativity as the Year begins. Tradition holds that the first person encountered (excluding people you live with) on New Years Day is an omen for the New Year, interpreted by their profession, circumstances, or relationship to the observer. I hope that you all have a most well-omened and enjoyable calendrical New Year!

Daily Question: Yesterday we asked: Who is Ammavaru?

Answer: Ammavaru, according to a Hindu belief, is an ancient goddess who laid the egg that hatched Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. Annually, women who believe in Ammavaru conduct a ritual prayer to the deity. A metal pot, filled with rice to symbolize the goddess' body, is clothed in a traditional sari. At the mouth of the pot, a painted coconut is used to symbolize the head. Varying implements are used to fashion the eyes, ears, and nose of the goddess.

This concludes our second year of the Daily Reading. I have greatly enjoyed doing the Daily Reading for these two years. As we start the new calendar year we have many exciting projects that we are developing. For me the biggest project is finishing the video version of our Correllian Degree Lessons –though it is only one of many things claiming my time. Because of the many things I am doing, I will be discontinuing the Daily Reading. I will however be continuing my daily Vlog, and you will also see many new projects coming along in 2012. I truly thank you for following the Daily Reading and I hope that you have enjoyed it. May the new calendar year bring you every blessing!
