merry meet :)

soooo.....before I get to my question, here is some background. My live in boyfriend and I already had two cats, which is all we are allowed by the lease. We had some snow about a month ago, and he went to clean my car off for me before I left for work (he's sweet like that). there was a big orange cat underneath my car. He expected the cat to run away, but instead when he finished, the kitty followed him up 3 flights of stairs and into our apartment (with no prompting). I bonded as soon as I saw him, and the kitty has made me "his" person. He is always hanging out under my altar table, and I keep pulling the queen of rods card when I do my tarot readings...which in my deck has a kitty on it that looks just like him.

so the question is,

1. Do real life wiccans have animal familiars or is that just in storybooks?

2. If it does happen, and an animal has chosen or been called to you....what do you do about it?

anybody know?

Merry Meet, what you do with him is love him and accept his love and company which he chooses to give you freely; it is a precious gift. Most definitely include him in casting your circle, if he wants it (my cat likes to lie on the bed and meow once or twice when I come towards him in the circle; I cast it wide enough to include him). Animals have their own special energy, each one different from another, with different behavior patterns. You may want to check out our WSI group, "Cats are familiars." Many Blessings,

Yes, you can definitely have a familiar, it isn't just in storybooks. There are many things you can do with your familiar but I think the simplest is include him in your spellwork if he's agreeable to it. I've read of people doing spells for a variety of things with their cat(s) within their circle (and dogs too). They bring their own special energy into it. About a month ago I was adopted by a young male cat and he seems to like putting his paw in the bowl of water on my altar! This is different from when he's "playing" in his water dish so I've been using that water for my pet protection spells and it seems to be working out nicely. Good luck with your new kitty and let us know how everything goes!

Yes! Keep him and don't let the landlord find out. Gaia'l
