Ok, so you
know when you have dreams that mean something. They stick out. They are memorable. They have a different feel to them. Well I had one of these the other night, and a few days later it became clear why. I thought I would share here to encourage all others to pay attention to these kind of dreams!
THE DREAM:
My husband came home from work and is walking through the house to me. (he does HVAC and is often dirty when he comes home) When he walked in I noticed something wiggling on his chest, it was a headless snake stuck to his t-shirt. My husband then explains to me that there was a poisonous snake coiled to strike outside and he had to cut its head off, the body must have flown up and stuck to his shirt without his noticing... (weird I know) We are now standing in the kitchen, I turn to the stove and see a second, live snake ON the eye of the stove - the eye is red and is very hot. The snake, which has its head, is flailing and wriggling all over the stove eye, obviously in pain from the heat. I knock it off quickly and onto the floor where it just sits there. I recognise that the snake is not poisonous, the snake was grey in color. I plead with my husband to do something with this snake, in my dream I remember saying "take care of that" and walking off to down the hall. I got about half way down the hall and had the thought "I hope he doesn't think that 'take care of that' meant for him to kill this snake too" so I immediately turn back into the kitchen, where I see that my husband has already cut this snake's head off and it is now dead.
I woke up instantly and was already crying, my pillow soaked with tears for the friendly snake that was also killed. I was upset, I sat there and cried for several minutes until I could calm down.
THE BACKGROUND INFO:
My husband (who loves snakes and wouldn't really kill them like that in real life) and I had owned 4 corn snakes. One was mine before I met him and is huge and over 10 years old. The other 3 we got together and are young and small. When we recently found out we were expecting our first child, we gave away the 3 small snakes in order to save money on the monthly budget. The person we gave them too is partially blind but has a roommate who owns snakes and was going to help him with them. He had told me that he was scared of them now, and that he was having trouble feeding them. He was planning on giving them to someone else soon, he already had a person lined up, they just hadn't been able to come and get them yet.
THE GODDESS-SENT PURPOSE OF THIS DREAM:
OK so back to the day after the dream, the person I gave the snakes too tells me he has a baby basinette that he no longer needs for his daughter and wants to give it to us. My husband and I plan to make the trip to his house to get the bassinet, I was also going to help feed the snakes while I was there. My husband tells me that he is actually pretty upset still over giving away the snakes, that he misses them and would rather us take them back than have this person give them to someone else as he was planning to do. We get to the his house, get the bassinet and all, and I tell him we are planning on taking the snakes back with us - he is fine with this. I go into the kitchen, where the tank is on the counter - the snakes have NO water, No moisture in the tank at all, they are all 3 skinny as hell and VERY lethargic. Of the 3, the white one (Aura) and the red one (Genesis) are moving around, but MY gray one (Lady Croft) is not even twitching. She is laying flat, Aura is even on top of her. I freak out, open the tank, reach in and pick up a limp Lady Croft very gently. She does not respond. I lightly drop her back to the bedding - she doesn't move. She appears dead. **Here I have a complete pregnant lady freak-out bitch yelling fest at this guy that I trusted to be a new home for my snakes** I even smacked him good with the EMPTY water dish! I had to keep my husband from decking the guy *LITERALLY*, as in - he was going for the punch and I grabbed his arm... that close. This guy had the snakes 4 feet away from his kitchen sink and wouldn't take 1 minute to fill up their water dish. He had frozen mice enough for all of them in his freezer 6 feet away - I know cus I bought them for him - and his roommate didn't feed the mice to them because he said the mice looked too big! I bought them! I know what size MY snakes ate!!! ARG! They didn't even have the heat pad plugged in! It was literally INCHES away from an available plug... OMFGs! And those two sat there in that kitchen stuffing
their faces every day while 3 lives suffered starvation and dehydration RIGHT BESIDE THEM!!! So my husband runs into the kitchen and grabs the very heavy glass tank (that really needs 2 people to carry) and just big-boy's it out to the car. I follow him out and we get all the decor out of the tank for safe car travel and head home. When we get there, we take out Lady Croft (who is still acting like a shoelace and still looks dead) After filling up water bowls and physically putting Aura and Gen's heads right in the bowl they start drinking. I offer Lady Croft water (cus she wasn't stiffening at all like a dead snake would) She moves her mouth!! SHES ALIVE!! But barely. She is SO dehydrated she is too weak to drink. She winds up *licking* water bits off the side of the water bowl as it spills over from the other snakes drinking it. (I have NEVER seen a snake use its tongue like this, it was very sad but neat at the same time, she knew we were trying to help her) It was PITIFUL but she finally was able to drink normally after quite some time. We fed the other 2 snakes some mice and they love it. Lady Croft is still too weak to make a kill, so I have to fix her a frozen mouse intended for my other, much larger snake, for her to eat. The mouse was so giant I was afraid she couldn't do it - but she managed to swallow after about 10 minutes of trying. I am happy to report that all 3 snakes are now doing fine - and we are no longer talking to that good-for-nothing animal-abusing-neglecting heartless ASSHOLE that I trusted with them in the first place.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
