Today I woke at 4:30 am. I took Bella (my dog) outside with me as I sat on my porch and drank my morning coffee. I looked at the sky and the sun was beginning to awaken here in Baltimore, Maryland USA. The sky was beginning to show signs of the Great Sun God. The color of the sky was shifting from the blackest of night to a deep warm dark blue. The birds were offering up their songs to our Loved Goddess, singing to her the moons lullaby, and then songs of praise to our Lord the Sun as he slowly began to open his eyes upon us, and light began to pierce the deepest of darkness. There was quietness, a stillness, which held reverence to the Great God of the Sun.

As I sipped on my coffee I could feel the warmth of the Sun God shinning down through the deep dark blue sky and gently touching my skin as to acknowledge my presence on this sacred morning of Litha. I felt Blessed by the Sun King and I knew this would be a day of greatness.

My mind began to drift in thoughts of this day and its meanings to me. First remembering the universal nurturing of the Great Sun as it warmed our planet with a blanket of protection and nourishment to our plant life. Coaxing and encouraging growth, reminding all of the need of his consort the Sacred Moon to rule the tides of water, quenching the thirsts, cooling and protection to his powerful strength upon us. Balancing between them the act of creation and manifestation of life, one cannot be without the other.

I then began to think about this balance and how it interacted upon my life and the need to maintain this balance between fire and water. Fire our passions and water our emotions each fuel to the other and how creative or destructive this power can be. I heard the words echo in my mind “It is all about choice” and I knew the power of these few words. Mindfulness then came into view.

Now that the days shall become shorter and nights longer, and the season of waning time is upon us, I am aware I must use this time wisely and mindfully maintain this delicate balance within. I am thankful to the Lord and Lady for awaking my conscious mind to this lesson today. Blessed Be
