Merry Meet,

Guess I'll start with an intro. I am 28 year old mother of three and wife of nearly ten years. My oldest is a 9 year old girl, My middle is a 7 year old boy who was diagnosed with Autism in 2004, And my youngest is a 4 year old boy. My husband has been recently diagnosed as being Bipolar. Never the Less I am a very busy person with loads of stress!

I believe the Wiccan path is the only path for me, as a child and young adult I never agreed with the Bible religions all though i saw that they were there to help people, none of them seemed right for me, I have never believed in the devil or hell and have always believed my path to salvation was through the Mother Earth. With that said I have only been seriously studying Paganism and Wicca for the last six to eight months. I live in Central Kentucky in a country setting where religious intolerance runs rampant. I have had to have talks with my nine year old daughter about what I believe and How sometimes it is easier to keep your beliefs to yourself to avoid persecution. It is very sad that in this day and age some people are still so intolerant. Say the words pagan or Wiccan where i live and there is a good chance you will be ostracized or worse.

Well This is a start to a new and better season of my life. And I plan to blog all about it!! LOL

Blessed Be
Melissa

Welcome aboard, Melissa! I'm also somewhat new here, and I also live in an area that doesn't have much locally--I've worked out that I can go to two nearby public gathers a year, and that is going to do me until I'm able to get in a better situation.

I basically practice solitarily in a small park near my home, and I come here to study and interact with people.

Hi Melissa,

New here as well and understand about having to hide it. I owned a bookstore back in Ohio and used to be able to spot fellow travellers by their jewelry. We'd talk and I'd find out how, on the job, the jewelry and other overt signs of Paganism would be pocketed. One woman told me of a job interview that was going great - until the hiring manager saw the Penagram pendant.

What galled me is the Christians that would come in and arrogantly proselytize. I had to bite my tongue on a few occasions.

The more I look around here the more I like it. It does feel nice to be among our own doesn't it?

Blessings to you Melissa.

Thank you Uaine,
I have looked into the Spirit of The Earth Church but since it is about 2 hours away from me and the fact that we live on a very fixed income it is very difficult for me to afford to drive that far away. Thank you I look forward to getting to know you

Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and encouragements!! To June, I have also always believed that Deity is an individual choice and cannot wait till my daughter gets to take World Civilizations. In school world Civ introduced me to the worlds religions and I plan on expanding her knowledge of all the worlds religions by possibly following there individual holidays or doing a project on each religion. My daughter is in the gifted and talented program in the fourth grade so I try to supplement her schooling with Home lessons on things that interest her and myself. June also thank you very much for your offer of friendship.

Hello Melissa, just so you know you are not alone. I too have a daughter (10yrs old & in 5th Grade) she has always known of my religion and we will allow her to make her own choice re: Deity. It is especially hard with this age of child and the way kids are at school (nothing like the good ole days). Be honest with her. Remind her that we are all one and we should all respect each other. She will be the bigger and better person. I am here if you need anything or just want to blow off some steam.

Blessings

June

Merry Meet Melissa, I live in Mclean County in the Western end of the state, It took me over 4 years to contact others like me in my area. There is a large group of wonderful Pagans in Hopkinsville, "Spirit of the Earth Church". They have several weekend gatherings celebrating the Turning of the Wheel during the year. These are open to the public and have been great times for me to meet others like me in Kentucky. Although I have been a Pagan at heart all my life I have only been studying and seriously living the life for about 7 years. My life has been wonderful ever since I realized my true path. I congratulate you on your new life! Blessings, Uaine

Nice to hear from you, Melissa. It is sad that we must face such intolerance in this day an age. I think if we all work together we can "be the change we wish to see in the world". Welcome home...
