Yesterday, we had gone for a picnic with our kids at Touching Lives Welfare Trust.
The day was fun filled with the kids laughter and songs sung from the highest notes ever..
On our journey to the destination I was seated in the middle of life...literally..
With a young boy to my left and a young girl to my right..
But what they spoke was extremes and me being the audience to it..
On reaching a bridge, the young girl quickly closed her eyes and said she was scared of the waters and that if this bridge breaks because of our bus, we'll all die..
And then started my rationalizing with her..
After a few moments the boy next to me started talking to me while seeing outside at the water underneath the bridge.
"You know I had once almost drowned in the water." said he.
"Two years ago when I was going for a bath in the waters, I thought it won't be deep so I went further into it" he added.
I nodded, gesturing him to continue his story.
"But then, I could not feel the stones under my feet and started drowning..All of a sudden I opened my eyes and realized I was under water .In an attempt to ask for help, I opened my mouth and more water went inside me."he said animatedly.
"Then, I saw a pole and used all my energy to reach it, held it and then came up shouting for help, but could see no one around. Next time when I opened my eyes, I saw I was on the bed and people pressing my chest. You know I was on bed for three full days."he said with a pride I didn't understand.
Before I could say anything to him, he said "But don't worry, I went back to those waters again and now I am the King Of The Waters."
He kept looking at me and then finally said, "You know what didi, The water saved my life and this water under the bridge is the same water. All the water is the same, coming from the same source."
He chuckled on saying this, just as you would imagine a wise old man giving you wisdom lessons with serenity all over their face.
He then got up from the seat, waved at me and went to his friend..
The small boy left me spellbound.
He was not scared of his fight with life that day, not for once cursed the waters but blesses it for the life it gave him once again, the armor it gave him for his fight, the victory he gained over his fears..
The Bridge, connected me to the two sides of life on one day... where, the small girl spoke from her second mind and the boy with his faith.. his compassion..his love.
