OK I am gonna play the devil(pardon the pun) advocate here.
This twit is just the tip of an old iceberg, lets face the truth witchcraft and paganism in the world already has a "bad" name, It is time we put some positive views out there for people to see.
there is an old saying there is no bad publicity , we just need to use this time to show people what we truly are and to put our best foot forward.
This is a good opportunity to show folks we are not satanists and not evil.
Some of our leaders are out there , like Selena Fox and Don Lewis showing people the true face of Wicca, in this time of Popularity for lack of a better term.
as the old saying goes kill-em with kindness . and lets pull the bad contations of the word witch into the light and watch the negatives drop off and the true beauty of the path shine through. imo Zaracon

I figured out myself without research that the Green skin Crone Witches we see at Hallowe'en/Samhain are indication of decay, age etc. I held to this strongly! now to see that there is no real proof of this and that it is connected to the Wizard of Oz...I totally stand corrected! but I do like my take on it! :) better than getting angry at every green face witch depiction I see. Thanks Rev. Don.

and I think you are right and that's why I said what I said any one who is open enough to take a step into other beliefs and perhaps come out with a different perspective, is ok with me and this is a good thing some never get beyond the ' book ' and to be open enough to speak out about it, is alright with me, terms : witch , wiccan, satan, eehhhh their all in some aspects interchangeable thanks Don good Mabon to ya. Rev. Don's commentary is wonderfully open-minded. (At 51, I am still dabbling in just about anything I come across. ;) )

She said she dated a witch with a satanic altar...

Who are WE to say if she is lying or not? There IS such a think as satanic witchcraft, and as much as we dissasociate ourselves as religious witches and wiccans from them... that doesn't make the fact change. She dabbled... sigh... I can't verify or debunk what she says! This was a comment from YEARS ago, not her current platform! If she is going to use her negative experience as part of her platform with a goal on stripping away pagan religious rights or promoting hate... THEN I will have more to be upset about. I don't hear her saying anything deeper than "she dabbled in witchcraft and once dated a satanist"...

I am not a fan of satanism and the way it is "linked" to pagan and wiccan witchcraft by misunderstandings of their two fundamentally different belief systems- However... I don't see any CURRENT ill will towards pagans... yet.

Blessed Be!

Rev. Don this is the clip that stated the whole issue i think ... and while i will agree that she was saying she looked at other religions when she was younger I also don't like the fact that she her self said "one of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar" in the clip at about 1:04 or so which just goes to further the stigma you discussed.
